Take 5: 5 Marathon-able Comic Movies and Some I’m Drooling For
Thor technically was a bust in the Marvel cannon, did you know that? Not as bad as Ang Lee’s Hulk, but people didn’t like the fact that the language was “old” and the way they were telling the story was “old” and everything was “ancient”. Um, get over it people. It was beautiful, and spellbinding, and an epic. Plus, no Thor gets you no Avengers or the rest of the movies. Go see if you can find the glove and the rest of the gems that are rumored to be part of the plot for the upcoming cannons.

I think the reason a lot of people disliked the first Thor movie is because it fizzled out in the first 30 minutes. There was an awesome fight with the frost giants. The very dramatic scene of Thor's banishment (my personal fave: YOU'RE UNWORTHY!). Then he's on Earth for another hour of the movie, no “powers” peddling around with Jane and friends.
I don't like Jane, and we won't talk about how I was rooting for her to die, loudly, in a crowded theater of Thor 2. But Thor 1 was basically a lot of setup for things to come, and most people hate that. I don't mind story and character development, but you can see the gripes when the action slows down in shows like The Walking Dead. No killing going on? Why am I here?
But Thor is my favorite Avenger. I love Asgard. Loki is a great villain. Thor 2 was miles better all the way around, and I can't wait to see where they continue to go with it.
No desire to see Guardians of the Galaxy. I wish they would reboot Catwoman. Now that Anne has taken over the character.
I personally found Jane annoying in the movies and especially in the first Thor they lacked chemistry, big time. Thor is saved by Loki, that is some glorious acting. I did, however, like the depiction of smart girls doing science in the movie and how they managed to do that without being complete nerdy girl stereotypes with glasses and inhalers (yes, I'm throwing some shade to you Doctor Who 50th anniversary special). And although I can't stand 2 Broke Girls, I kind of love Kat Dennings in these movies.
I can't wait for Godzilla. Though let me just say again, look how many Godzilla movies we have and still now Wonder Woman. Yep, still bitter.
I would love to see a Storm movie, which I believe you mention on your blog. Good call.
