Announcing the 2025 Project: The Year of RA (Reader’s Advisory)
Regular TLT readers know that each year we pick an area of focus. This began for us back in 2014 when we decided to talk about sexual violence in the life of teens and in YA literature. Other topics have included faith and spirituality, mental health, poverty, etc. In 2024, we focused on Middle Grade, in part because we have seen how much Middle Grade and Young Adult book sales were down and read disturbing educational trends that indicate a decline in both the ability to read and the desire to read for pleasure. So this year, building off of those same notes, we introduce you to our 2025 project . . .
Our goal is to talk about books, reading and reader’s advisory. If the term Reader’s Advisory is new to you, it’s basically everything we do to try and help library patrons and readers find books that they will like. We’re going to be talking about RA 101 (hopefully with the help of YOU! Our esteemed colleagues). We’re going to be sharing book reviews, book lists, RA Tools of the Week, etc. Basically, we’re going to talk about how we can help people find books they love and how we can increase tweens and teens desire to read for pleasure.

So this is YOUR chance . . .
Want to talk about your book(s)? Cool. We got you.
Want to share a book list on a subject that you love? Cool. We got you.
Want to highlight backlist titles? Cool. We got you.
Want to share a display idea, an RA tool, or a cool thing you did that somehow promoted books or reading? You guessed it! Cool. We got you.
Start Here and let us know your idea! TLT Guest Post Guidelines
You can then fill out our Guest Post Interest Form here. A TLTer will get back to you as soon as possible and start the process with you. Please note: All TLTers are full time employees elsewhere and TLT is something we (passionately) do on our own time and when we start a new project we often get a ton of responses, so if we don’t respond immediately, I promise someone will get back to you and we appreciate you!
Libraries are about sharing ideas and getting people reading. So let’s do that!
