Book Mail: Mysteries, romances, graphic novels, hi-lo series, fantasies, and more!

Have I mentioned that I get a ton of book mail? One of these days I will record a video of my chiweenies “greeting” the UPS guy. Getting an all-glass front door many years ago seemed like a great way to let light into our house. I did not stop to think that it would also become the bane of my existence as our rotating cast of tiny dogs all love to post up at that door and share their every thought with the neighborhood.

One may wonder what on earth I do with all this book mail. It arrives, I tweet about it, I load it all into these book mail posts, then I arrange it all on carts in my office according to publication date. And try as I might, I then only read a small fraction of that mail. To my everlasting disgust, I cannot read every book ever written. So I read. And then I start to find new homes for all the read and unread books.

Which brings me to this. Do you know the middle grade author and fellow Minnesotan Abby Cooper? Of course you do! BUT! Do you know she runs this awesome non-profit A Book of My Own, which connects Minnesota families with books? How cool is she?! So what I’ve been doing for the past few months is passing all hardcover/finished copies book mail to her. Thanks to all of the wonderful publishers who keep me in books! You are also helping keep Minnesota kids in books too (I’m currently setting aside books for a friend who works as a youth advocate at a homeless shelter in MN)!
