Cindy Crushes Programming: Escape from the Zoo

I chose this as a theme since it matched our summer reading theme. I have less sign up though then some of my other more fandom based escape rooms I noticed. This might have been better for tweens.
Plot: In this thrilling adventure, participants find themselves trapped in a zoo where the animals have mysteriously escaped from their enclosures. It’s up to you and your team to solve puzzles, unravel clues, and outsmart the wild creatures to secure your freedom. Are you ready to embark on this wild adventure and prove that you have what it takes to escape the zoo? Gather your team, sharpen your wits, and get ready for an unforgettable journey into the heart of the animal kingdom!

Supplies:
- Breakout edu Kit
- Random other decor (I left old clues to other escape rooms in the room which made a perfect red herring)
- Map of Zoo (I found it online)
- Morse Code Guide and word in morse code
- Zoo posters
- Puppets and Various animals
- Decor
- Pencil
Directional Lock: I used a zoo map locations on the zoo map M2, M8, Z9, A9
Four Digit Lock:
I printed off Brookfield Zoo posters and underline the words Brookfield zoo. I put travel guides for chicago in the room and in the one that talked about the zoo I put the year the zoo opened (1934) in on the page about the zoo.
Three Digit Lock:
Hint “lions, tigers and bears oh my” will be in small box with the key lock on it
3 lions, 1 Tigers, 3 Bears
Three Digit Lock 2 : All the turtles I cut out pictures of turtles and tortoises and put numbers on them but the turtle numbers are 1 0 3 so they will have to put those together and not the tortoise numbers. I did put the turtles all the way down and I put a copy of Turtles All The Way Down in the room.
I put one of the keys in my secret bears outfit. It is a care bear that has a lock on it.
The other key was in a box of crayons
Final thoughts: Well I made this one harder. I did have to give them extra hints to help them along. I do think using the map where they had to find it not using names of locations but map codes confused them so I feel I taught them a skill. They learned about turtles vs Tortoises. I had a huge crowd turn up the day off so I was very busy. I did have kids pick the locks so that is something to watch for . We had a conversation about the goal of the escape room after that.
