Top 25 Titles at My School: Graphic Novels and Mauds Reign Supreme! Again!

Another school year has wrapped up!
If you work in an elementary school or are in the children’s department in a public library (or have kids of your own), you might be very familiar with the books on this list. This list reflects the top 25 titles in my elementary school library for the 2023-2024 school year. As our list shows, and has shown year after year, graphic novels were hot and Wimpy Kid is still going strong.
Our list is probably very different from lists created in states other than Minnesota, as our list is heavy on books nominated for the Maud Hart Lovelace Award (Minnesota’s “read and vote” award for kids), which got lots of circulations (a fact aided by the pizza party kids who read a certain number of these books are able to earn). The titles on this award list included entries 6, 8, 9, 19, 23, and 25 on our top 25 list.

This year I am at a new school, but in the same district, so was not surprised to see the list looks nearly identical to the past years’ lists at my former school.
Here we go! In order from 25 to 1!
