Cindy Crushes Programming: Among Us Escape Room, by Teen librarian Cindy Shutts
Among Us became popular during the pandemic when kids could not hang out with their friends in person, and it still is popular today with teens and kids. I have played it with my nephew and when we were doing virtual programs with kids. My coworker Faith has also hosted a live-action Among Us program and it was very popular.
Plot of the game: Find out who is the imposter while trying to save your space ship. Will you survive and escape the room?
Supplies:
- Breakout edu Kit
- Random other decor you have available to you ( I left in an old clue to a different escape room which made a perfect red herring)
- Map of Ship
- Morse Code Guide and word in morse code
- Among us posters
- Decor
- Pencil
Directional Lock: West, North, South, East I will use a map ship reactor, cafeteria, navigation, comms
Four Digit Lock
Find the Question: what year did the game release?

I had them write the word brown for an extra hint.
-… .-. — .– -.
Key lock hide the key put on small box. Small box held the word in morse.
Color Lock Pink, green, red, blue , yellow
Put them in order on the wall
Final thoughts:
The teens and tweens that participated had a great time!
My color lock broke so I will need a new one. That did make the event easier with one less lock. I think it was fine without, but would have been cool to have it in the final game.

The Three digit lock was harder since one of the teens moved the clue supplies right away in the game but I think it made it more fun. I now like the idea of using non lock clues to give the teens extra hints.
