Cindy Crushes Programming: Nail Polish Pendants

December 7, 2022 by Cindy Shutts   Leave a Comment

Patron’s pendants

Supplies

  • Diamond Glaze
  • Clear Nail polish (Preferred Fast Dry)
  • Glitter Nail Polish
  • Pendant tray and glass cabochons (see picture below)
  • Necklaces
  • Toothpicks
  • Jump Rings, if needed

Some terms to understand:

A cabochon is a gemstone like object that has been polished and is flat on one side.

A pendant tray holds a cabochon.

Price:

I already had a lot of the supplies so it ended up being around $30 but if I were to start new, it would have been $60. One way I made it cheaper was to ask staff to donate old nail polish which saved a lot of money. I had the jump rings and the necklaces and the diamond glaze. I bought the fast drying clear nail polish and the pendant trays and cabochons. I also got a few glitter nail polish sets at Five Below. Nail polish is a supply I reuse often like the diamond glaze.

How to do the craft

1.Paint the flat side of the cabochons with clear nail polish. For the following steps, you will continue to paint the flat side. You are layering the nail polish to create the end results.

2. Wait for it to dry.

3. Paint the cabochon with the glitter nail polish.

4. Wait for it to dry.

5. Paint the solid color.

6 Wait for it to dry.

7. Use a toothpick to add a light layer of diamond glaze to the last layer of nail polish. Please make sure it is dry. Then quickly put the cabochon into the pedant tray and press it. It will dry and stick together.

Final thoughts:

I love this craft. Everyone did such a great job. I did end up having to send kits home to teens who were too sick to come to the craft. I really recommend having a craft you can make into a kit if needed. There are a lot of of viruses around.
