What to Read if You Like Stranger Things . . . A Book Gallery

June 22, 2022 by Karen Jensen, MLS   2 comments

The teens at my house are big Stranger Things fans. I’ve now seen bits and pieces of all seasons 4 times, in a row. I guess that’s how we’re spending our summer vacation. Teens are coming in and out of my house singing songs like Running Up That Hill and The Neverending Story, their taking what character are you quizzes, and so much more. My life is all about Stranger Things right now as they count down until July 1st, the day the 4th and final season ends on Netflix. So I have been thinking of books to put into the hands of the teens that keep coming in to my house and binging this hit. But when I thought about recommending books, I realized there were a lot of different things they liked about the show, so I thought I would break my book recommendations down into the various categories I was hearing the teens talk about. So here are a ton of Stranger Things readalikes that you or someone you know may be interested in reading. Please note, in order to make this list there are sometimes spoilers about elements of the show or the books.

If you are a Middle Grade Reader . . .

If you like the Monsters of Stranger Things . . .

If you like the Upside Down (Parallel Timelines/Worlds) . . .

If you like the 1980s setting . . .

If you like Starcourt Mall . . .

If you are here for the Friendships . . .

If you like Eleven’s psychic powers . . .

If you wanted to visit more weird and “cursed” towns like Hawkins . . .

These picks look so good I’d like to read all of them. Do you have your own particular favourite that you wouldn’t mind recommending?

Hi Tracey. I really love so many of these books. I tried to pick a favorite to start with, but I came up with several favorites. I really love This Savage Song, Labyrinth Lost, Sawkill Girls and The Disappearances. I love them all, but I guess this is where I would start. Though for the friendship aspect always Code Name Verity.
