Have Some 2021-2022 Anime

May 30, 2022 by Riley Jensen   Leave a Comment

In the recent years, anime has become very popular among teens, including myself. There’s always new anime coming out and new ideas included within those animes. That being said, the year 2022 has come with many new animes that have really caught a lot of interest. Here’s a list of a few of these animes that have caught my interest. These are all animes that I am currently watching or plan to watch sometime soon.

Spy x Family

A spy known only as Twilight needs a family as part of his undercover mission, so he quickly marries a city hall worker and adopts a child and dog. Unknown to him, his family has secrets of their own: his wife Yor is an undercover assassin, his daughter Anya is a runaway psychic who can read minds, and his dog was from a laboratory that gave him the power to tell the future. All these four subjects must bond together as a family to manage their own affairs and be together as best as they can.

Reasons I decided to watch: highly anticipated, humor, action

Where to watch: Hulu, Crunchyroll

Tomodachi Game

High school student Yuuichi Katagiri cherishes his close circle of friends, composed of four classmates: Yutori Kokorogi, Shiho Sawaragi, Makoto Shibe, and Tenji Mikasa. However, when the funds for the upcoming school trip are stolen, the incident causes Shiho and Makoto—who had been tasked with collecting the money—to distance themselves from the rest of their class.

Soon after, Yuuichi and his friends are deceived into meeting up and knocked unconscious by unknown assailants. After waking, the group find themselves confined in a white room with controversial figure Manabu-kun, who reveals that one of the five has gathered them together to clear their personal debt of twenty million yen. To pay off the amount, they must participate in a variety of psychological games that will test the true nature of their friendship and humanity.

Distressed and isolated from the outside world, Yuuichi and his friends need to cooperate to complete the games. But as their concealed feelings and problematic pasts begin to surface, their seemingly unbreakable bond may soon shatter into irreparable pieces.

Reasons I decided to watch: reminded me of Squid Games, suspense, thriller

Where to watch: Crunchyroll

Komi Can’t Communicate

An absolute beauty to anyone, Shouko Komi in reality suffers from extreme social anxiety and communication problems, making her largely unable to talk to others. However, her attractiveness and stoic appearance, which in itself results from her anxiety, is perceived as refined class, making her highly popular while preventing people from actually getting to know her. Komi’s first conversation with Tadano is over a blackboard, and she uses a notebook to convey her feelings through writing. Despite this, she is still capable of verbal conversation over a cell phone. Her dream is to overcome her communication problems and make 100 friends.

Reasons I decided to watch: great character development, slice of life, heartfelt

Where to watch: Netflix

Ranking of Kings

Meet Bojji, a deaf, powerless prince who cannot even wield a children’s sword. As the firstborn son, he strives hard and dreams of becoming the world’s greatest king. However, people mutter about him behind his back as “a good-for-nothing prince” and “no way he can be king.”

Reasons I decided to watch: fantasy, the main character has my whole heart, heartfelt

Where to watch: Crunchyroll

To Your Eternity

Dropped from the hand of a mysterious being, a lone orb begins a journey of discovery. With the power to imitate both living and non-living things, it can take the form of objects, animals, and people it meets along the way. Gaining consciousness, emotions, and eventually the name Fushi, the immortal creature learns both the beauty and suffering the world has to offer. But humanity is in great peril from powerful beings called the Nokkers, who Fushi alone is able to defeat. Can he protect a world he is still struggling to understand from enemies with the ability to steal everything Fushi has painstakingly gained so far?

Reasons I decided to watch: the summary said that the main character is a “shapeshifting orb”, fantasy

Where to watch: Crunchyroll

For Crunchyroll, it’s free if you can deal with a few ads and not being able to watch all of the episodes at once. Crunchyroll premium is offered without ads and all episodes available all at once. A premium membership is $8 per month, so it’s just like paying for Netflix or Hulu
