Reel Thoughts: Steel Yourself for This One by Christie G and That Guy
If it was a pair of humans, we’d call this suicide by cop. Zod lost his reason for being, and forced Kal-El to kill him, never reasoning that there could be any other life than the one that he had been given at birth. That sends a powerful message, especially when we do live in an unspoken caste society. We are sorted by a variety of factors, and those factors open some doors for us and close others. Here in Texas, our governor refuses to sign equal pay acts and is closing Planned Parenthood clinics. Elsewhere there are places where women cannot get birth control, where if you have any hint of an accent you shouldn’t even apply for a job. Even if we don’t acknowledge it, the circumstances of our births do affect the opportunities that we have.

If it was just the death of Zod in the train station, I would have been able to say without hesitation that it was a really good movie and recommend it to others. However, the scene of the ship being destroyed just goes against what intrinsically I think Superman stands for. I didn’t walk away from this movie on a high, saying, “Wow, I want to come back and see it again.”

I find it interesting that you go from complaining about Superman killing unborn Kryptonians to complaining about Rick Perry closing down Planned Parenthood clinics. There's something of a disconnect there.
Christie says
Actually, no there is not, because Planned Parenthood provides all types of options (birth control, STD testing and vaccines), general health care, men's health care, HIV testing, GLBT health services, cancer screenings, women's physicals, mammograms, diabetes testing and education, and a host of other options.

I have not seen the movie nor have I read the article above because of spoilers. However, I want to remind readers that abortion services are estimated to be around only 3% of the services that Planned Parenthood provides. As Christie mentions in her reply above, they provide a wide variety of services, typically to those without the economic means to get those services in more traditional doctors offices. I used PP when I first got married to help obtain birth control at a rate that I could afford without insurance, and I definitely could not afford to raise a child. Saying we shouldn't support PP because they provide some services we don't agree with (if you don't agree with them)is like saying we shouldn't shop at a, b, or c grocery store because they sell alcohol to those who don't believe in drinking – that would leave them with basically no grocery store choices. For many people, PP is THE only healthcare option they have. And I do recognize that there are many religious faiths that don't support the use of any type of birth control, but part of what it means to have religious freedom is that we don't get to force our religious beliefs onto other people.
