I recently read If You Could Be Mine, and while I loved the setting and idea of the story, it fell flat for me. The characters weren't fully formed, and the trans story line felt very rushed. That said, it was great to have a LGBT story that featured women of color, navigating their sexuality in a country that condemns it. I just had much higher hopes of it.
