Sunday Reflecitons: Oh the places you’ll read, inspired by Dr. Seuss obviously
Oh the places you’ll read . . .
You can read books on a bench
You can read books in a trench
You can read books in a wagon
When behind me you are draggin’
You can read books in a line
You can read books feeling fine
You can read books when you’re sick
You can read books long or quick
You can read books at the park
But you can not read them in the dark
(unless you have a flashlight or an e-reader)
You can read books where the sidewalk ends
And then a new one you begin
You can read books in your house
You can read them to a mouse (I guess)
You can read books to your dog
or your cat or your pet log (what? It rhymes with dog)
You can read books laying down
You can read books wearing a crown
You can read books here or there
So take one with you everywhere

Or your cat or your pet hog…
Teen Librarian's Toolbox, Karen says
Hi Debra, the pet log is actually an obscure reference to an older show that I was obsessed with as a teenager called Twin Peaks. In it there was a lady who carried around a log which gave her psychic messages. Yes, it was a very weird show. Hog would definitely have worked.

Or Ren and Stimpy! Didn't they have a commercial for Log?
Teen Librarian's Toolbox, Karen says
Wow, I haven't thought of Ren and Stimpy in a while. How fun. Good call. Also, frog – frog rhymes with dog. We even had a pet frog. I should have thought of that while writing the poem LOL.
